Our fun workshop offers a hands-on experience with clay, allowing students to unleash their imagination and create unique masterpieces. Our experienced instructor will guide students of all skill levels through making a specific project while teaching handbuilding techniques and fostering creativity. Students will then choose from a variety of our underglazes to paint their creations.

Mud & Merlot, where creativity meets relaxation in a perfectly messy harmony! Join us at our studio and get your hands dirty as you learn the art of handbuilding with techniques such as slab building and surface decoration. Our instructor will guide you through the process of creating a beautiful platter. Sip on your favorite vino as you unleash your inner artist in a fun environment. So grab a glass and let's get muddy together!

Join our comprehensive wheel throwing course for all levels. This six-week program offers a perfect opportunity to explore the art of pottery making. Engage in hands-on sessions where you will learn the techniques of wheel throwing as well as refining and glazing your creations.  Practice and create as many pots as you wish, and only pay a supply fee for the pieces that you choose to keep. Enhance your skills, unleash your creativity, and master the spinning wheel to craft your own artistic masterpieces.

Unleash your inner artist at our Mud to Mug handbuilding workshop! Join us for a fun and interactive experience where you will learn how to transform clay into a beautiful handcrafted mug (or vase or cup or bowl) using pinching, coiling and surface decoration techniques. No experience necessary - just bring your creativity and enthusiasm! Perfect for beginners and seasoned artists alike.

*Limited to 6 students

*Recommended Ages: 13+ (ages 8-12 can register if accompanied by a parent who is also a registered student in the class)

*NBP will dip glaze your one creation in the color of your choice.

Continue building your ceramic skills through independent practice. Although an instructor will be available during open studio hours, teaching and demonstrations will not be provided. Open Studio includes free access to a pottery wheel, class tools, handbuilding area and unlimited mid-fire white stoneware clay. In addition, students are given shelf space to store their works in progress. The responsibilities of the staff include managing glaze access on designated glaze days and managing the kiln.

*$15 per session + supply fee

*Registration is open only to students who have taken at least one 6-week wheel throwing class with Nina Bean Pottery. 

SUPPLY FEE

Any piece that you choose to keep will include an additional fee of $5.00 per pound for the clay, bisque fire, glaze and glaze fire. 

Workshop Themes:

American Colonial Redware

Delve into the rich history of early American craftsmanship, imitating the techniques and designs, and examining the cultural significance behind its redware pottery through a crash course in wheel throwing and then slip decorating an NBP jug.

Korean Celadon Pottery

Learn the ancient art of Korean celadon pottery by making a pot on the potter's wheel, and then handbuilding and decorating a vase with traditional methods and designs of Korean culture. (Language Arts Connection: A Single Shard by Linda Sue Park)
