Our fun workshop offers a hands-on experience with clay, allowing students to unleash their imagination and create unique masterpieces. Our experienced instructor will guide students of all skill levels through making an animal mug, teaching handbuilding techniques and fostering creativity. Students will then choose from a variety of our underglazes to paint their creations.

Unleash your inner artist at our Mud to Mug handbuilding workshop! Join us for a fun and interactive experience where you will learn how to transform clay into a beautiful handcrafted mug (or vase or cup or bowl) using pinching, coiling and surface decoration techniques. No experience necessary - just bring your creativity and enthusiasm! Perfect for beginners and seasoned artists alike.

Workshop Themes:
American Colonial Redware
Delve into the rich history of early American craftsmanship, imitating the techniques and designs, and examining the cultural significance behind its redware pottery through a crash course in wheel throwing and then slip decorating an NBP jug.
Korean Celadon Pottery
Learn the ancient art of Korean celadon pottery by making a pot on the potter's wheel, and then handbuilding and decorating a vase with traditional methods and designs of Korean culture. (Language Arts Connection: A Single Shard by Linda Sue Park)

*NBP will dip glaze your two pots after the workshop.
Continue building your ceramic skills through independent practice. Although an instructor will be available during open studio hours, teaching and demonstrations will not be provided. Students are responsible for their own work from start to finish. Open Studio includes free access to the pottery wheels, class tools, handbuilding area and unlimited white stoneware clay. In addition, students are given shelf space to store their works in progress.
